Prison of Thought

$100.00

The functionality of a thought system is expressed through two parts: the black grid lines and the white words written in circular form.

The black grid lines portray a thought represents a grid. As time or knowledge increase, we are boxed into little narrow spaces because of the thought systems that act on us. These thought systems coerce us to settle in a specific spot. We unconsciously subscribe to knowing as a singular narrative.

The bars in black create an intensity of space. They form linearly, trapping and isolating specific spots. This creation of barriers disable movement through other modes of existence and thought.

The words written in white are language, history, sciences, memory, philosophy. They represent the systems that motivate our understandings of thoughts and constrain us to think through a specific narrative. The white writing suggests that they act through appearing invisible. We cannot see how these systems coerce us into being, but their oppressive influence is great. They are written in circular form to emphasize the trapping mechanism.

While the system formed by these black lines and white circles trap the subject into an isolated space, the subject can learn to navigate the system and temporarily escape the thought prison system. The subject must invest in consciousness and mindfulness to successfully predict the system and achieve moments of temporary freedom.
